Områdebeskrivelse: Området er et veldig stort, sammenhengende våtmarks-/myrområde. Det grenser mot veien og dyrkamark og ellers mot tørrere skogareal.Berggrunnen i området veksler mellom fattige og rikere bergarter, der kalkglimmerskifer dominerer. Dette gir grunnlag for rikmyrområder. Moldåga i seg selv er spesielt viktig pga. sin sterke meandrering. Elva renner stille i det flate terrenget og bukter seg stadig i flere retninger. (Mulig forekomst av vannplanter med lange skudd). Elvekanten er rik på vegetasjon, bl.a. løvskog. Her er fine biotoper for vadefugler og til dels andefugler. Området huser et rikt spurvefuglliv. Videre vestover fra dyrkningsfeltet varierer biotypen mellom våtmyr, noen vannspeil og fattigere myr med dvergbjørk og lyng. Her finnes også noen furutrær, granskog og løvskog der bjørk dominerer.Tallrike smådammer og tjern, sannsynligvis uten fiskebestand, danner viktige biotoper for vannlevende insekter. De er mulige lokaliteter for amfibier, og danner livsmiljø for tallrike forskjellige våtmarks- og myrplanter. I henhold til DN-håndbok 13-1999 er alle rikmyrer under skoggrensa viktige områder for biologisk mangfold. På bakgrunn av det ovennevnte, og manglende dokumentarsjon vurderes området som lokalt viktig for biologisk mangfold. Verdien av området blir litt redusert pga. bilveien til Røssvatn og en høyspenningslinje som går langs dalen. Kongsdalen synes å være lite undersøkt. Lokaliteten bør undersøkes nærmere og verdien evnt. oppjusteres.Lokaliteten er avgrensea av Hemnes kommune.
